No, that’s not Dame Julie Andrews, it’s her doppleganger, Mrs. Charlotte Eisel. Mrs. Eisel was one of my English teachers at Central High School.

For weeks now, she has been “patiently waiting” for her portrait as a part of my Facebook Profile Pictures Project. She also requested that I “make her beautiful.” No effort required, Mrs. Eisel.

Above is her actual profile picture. Below is a pic of Mrs. Eisel with her daughter Catie. I’ve heard tell that despite being a bit younger than me, Catie whooped my ass back when we were both little kids.

Maybe we can put our own future children up to a revenge pillow fight in the future? Some kind of generational come-back? I did marry a 6′ tall former wrestler, so perhaps Hannah Jr. will be a bit more scrappy. Bring it.

Mrs. Eisel taught us how to use “portly” in a sentence and warned us that she would kill our first born if we ever used it in a sentence about her. She also refused to hear us speak if we used “like” in any manner besides expressing affinity or in a simile.

I’m certain that if I’ve made any grammatical errors in this post, Mrs. Eisel will be sure to correct them in the comments!

Mrs. Eisel took us through J. Alfred Prufrock, Shakespeare, and even The Bible. Much of my literate foundation was built up by this fierce and extremely beautiful leading lady. Thank you, Mrs. Eisel!

Fun stuff! Mrs. Eisel sounds like a great teacher. I like the rule about “like”.
