Illustrating Icons for the Curious Coconut Blog

A  friend of mine asked me if I would redesign some of his wife, Amanda’s, blog icons in my style/style of the “Facebook Profile Pictures Drawing Project.” I agreed!

I was especially glad to discover that Amanda’s blog is all about her journey with Primal/Paleo eating. I myself have been following a similar lifestyle for about a year now (I got turned onto it about a year and a half ago, but it took me a while to dive in). Above is the blog the way it was before. They wanted me to re-draw those icons for “blog,” “about” and “science!”

I did so and, while I was at it, I decided to draw all of the other icons and write out the text in my hand just in case they wanted to use it. I also did some drawings from Amanda’s photo and drew a couple of different “Curious Coconut” logos.

Below are the icons and some of the other images in more detail. They’ve already put the icons on the blog, and I might be tweaking more of the imagery for their use soon!

I have to say that I really enjoyed doing these drawings. Lately I’ve been thinking about what it would be like to be an “illustrator,” at least part time. I seem to enjoy drawing, no matter what the cause or purpose.
