Print Nugget Update

We had another ultrasound and doctor’s appointment today. Normally they wouldn’t have done another ultrasound at this point, but during last month’s, the baby kept putting its hands up over the heart and blocking it. They wanted to take measurements to make sure everything was developing correctly, so they took another peek today.

Everything seems to be going well both with my body and the baby. No signs of any health issues, and my weight gain has been pretty slow and steady. The baby’s heartbeat had slowed down a bit from our last appointment (I mentioned in our last post that it was up over 160) to 150. And it even dipped down into the 140s. But I was also more relaxed, and I haven’t wanted as much coffee in the mornings. I’ve been cutting it more than half with milk, a substance of which I can’t seem to get enough.

Not much seems to happen at these appointments. We sit in the waiting room and read our books, attempting to ignore the terrible programming on the big screen tvs in the waiting room. Sometimes small children pretend to shoot bullets from plastic guns at us. Today they had the show I didn’t know I was pregnant! on. Why would they have this on in an OBGYN waiting room? No idea, folks. It certainly helped the wait time speed by to watch a woman plop out an unexpected infant into a toilet bowl. Blake said perhaps it was supposed to make us all feel like we were already better mothers by comparison. At least we knew we were pregnant.

The ultrasound happens in a nice dark room where I get to lie down and relax while the baby makes monkey faces and duck lips on the screen, its head floating somewhere down near my crotch. The tech turns the screen away to shield Blake from any gender knowledge as she checks everything out. He doesn’t look away, but he says she doesn’t linger down there enough for him to see anything, anyway.

And then we meet with the doctor, who says everything looks normal and she doesn’t plan to rush me into labor, to the hospital, nor rush me into a c-section, which all sounds very good to us. She laughs when I tell her I would love it if Print Nugget were to arrive a little late so I could get nearly done with my semester. Probably because she knows I’ll be so ready for it to be over and out by that point.

The doctor revised my due date slightly from November 29th to December 3rd. Little Print Nugget weighs about 12 oz. Otherwise, there are no real significant changes to report. We could see the spine and rib cage quite well, as you see above, which was fun.

And that’s all there is, folks. I have another appointment in 4 weeks where I get to drink a disgusting sugar syrup to make sure I don’t have gestational diabetes (but my piss has been as pure and clean as a the flying nun’s honey pot so far.)

In the meantime, I made a sort of “digital baby shower” page here, if you’re interested: https://www.orangebarrelindustries.com/sample-page/offspring/

  1. Thanks for the update. I am assuming that Print Nugget is a temporary name for the interim period. If not, let me know. I’d hate to send out false info to others.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I loved reading about Print Nugget! Seems like yesterday that you were Hunter’s first baby sitter… He will be 12 in September and is almost as tall as I am! Hang onto your hats; it all goes so fast!
